The guys woke up early for a photo shoot for Teen People. Right after the shoot was over, which was past noon, they headed over to a radio interview. After the brief interview, they went back to the hotel to meet up with the girls, who were out in the City to do some shopping.
Everyone gathered in Drew and Becki's room in the afternoon. The guys arrived to see the girls all watching some movie.
Ashley looked up and saw Justin walk in. She turned her attention back to the screen. Justin stared at his girlfriend in total regret. He wanted to apologize to her and just wanted to make everything alright between them. After all, the trip was a time for making some happy memories, not for fighting.
Gathering all his courage, Justin walked up to Ashley.
"Can I talk to you?" he pleaded her with his clear blue eyes.
She nodded slowly and got up. He opened the door for her and followed her out into the hall. Everyone inside the room quickly got up and listened through the door.
"I'm sorry, Ashley," Justin began.
She looked at him, not saying a word in return, letting him know just exactly how upset she was with him.
"I know what I did last night was wrong, very wrong. I just…didn't know how to tell you."
She urged him to continue with her silence.
"I have to be honest with you. The truth is…well, I don't really think that it was the right time for us to consummate the relationship," Justin explained.
"What do you mean?" Ashley replied in a low voice.
Meanwhile, inside the room, everyone was quiet as a mouse and listened closely to what they were saying outside.
"It was their first time?" Drew whispered loud enough for all of them to hear.
Becki playfully slapped Drew on his arm.
"What?" Drew asked.
"I think it's cute that they've waited," Becki whispered back.
"Whatever."
"Hey, Drew, you want to shut up anytime soon?" Nick laughed at his brother.
Outside in the hallway, Justin began to explain to Ashley again how he really felt.
"It's like this. Our relationship has been nothing but great, but we also have so much more to find out and learn about one another before we actually move onto something like that."
"That's what this was all about?"
"Yeah."
"Well, you don't have anything to worry about then. I totally understand, but you could've just came right out and told me how you felt because I hated not having the real you with me the past few days," she grinned at him.
He kissed her passionately and held her in his arms.
"I love you," Justin said.
"I love you too."
Everyone sighed a breath of relief inside the room and Ashley and Justin returned. The happy couple laughed as their friends scrambled back to their seats.
"You guys, we should really start getting ready for the MTV party tonight," Drew announced.
Everyone looked around at one another and agreed.
After a couple of hours, the group arrived at the MTV studio. They were greeted by numerous stars and fans, especially upon entering Times Square.
The MTV studio was completely packed with the VJs, fans and other celebrities. The music was blaring through the speakers and everyone were dancing to the beat.
Justin and Ashley got lost in the crowd as they danced to the music. Becki and Drew had gone to get some drinks because he wasn't too much of a dancer.
As Jessica and Sara were dancing wildly in the crowd, a couple of guys tapped them on the shoulder. They turned around and were completely shock with the faces in front of them.
"Derek!" Jessica exclaimed. "What are you two doing here?"
"MTV decided to invite us up here. How about you two?"
"We came with 98 Degrees," Sara answered.
"That's cool. Let's go dancing," Alex said.
The four got lost within the crowd and the blaring music.
Becki and Drew were sitting in the corner of the room, just talking.
"Hi," a girl said shyly after approaching the two.
Drew looked up and replied, "Hi, how are you?"
"My name is Tori and I've been such a huge fan of you," she said quietly.
Drew smiled at her. "Thank you."
"Would you mind autographing this for me?" Tori handed him a marker and a photocard of Drew.
He signed it and hugged the girl. She smiled at him and thanked him.
"Oh, Drew, my name is Becki, can you autograph something for me?" Becki joked.
"I think I can do better," he laughed and then kissed her.
The night continued on. The time seemed to be going by quickly. It was nearly midnight, and everyone was scattered around the studio. Megan had found a cute guy whom she had been talking to for most of the night. To his surprise, Nick saw Robin, the girl who he met the previous night at the club.
Everyone gathered back together eventually, except for Jeff and Charlene. No one knew where they had gone to. No one had actually seen them after arriving at the studio.
Regardless, everyone happily awaited for the new year.
