"How can he do this to me?" my best friend, Hollie, cried into the phone to me.
"I dont know, but I do know that Steve just made a big mistake," I said, trying to calm her down.
"I thought he loved me because I loved him so much!"
"Theres nothing to do about it now, Hol."
"I want to think that, Nick, but I just cant," she cried.
"Come on, Hollie, positive thinking," I mentioned one of our inside jokes, hoping that it would make her laugh.
She sobbed a little and said, "Yeah, Nick, positive thinking."
Hollie and I went way back, ever since elementary school, actually. We were best friends for as long as we could remember, and it really helped that our parents got along really well.
My little brother, Drew, barged into my room and yelled, "Dinners ready!"
"Drew, shut up!" I yelled, covering the mouthpiece on the phone. "Hey, Hol, I have to go, Drew here is being annoying as usual."
Hollie laughed a little, in mist of sniffling at the same time. "Thanks, Nick, Im glad that I can count on you."
"Of course. I guess Ill talk to you later," I said and we hung up.
That night, I laid in bed, thinking about the ordeal that Hollie had just gone through. This Steve guy has to be a real jerk to dump Hollie because she was always talking about him when they were going out. If we were together, I would never do something like that to her.
What was I thinking? Hollie and I were best friends. Best friends for the past twelve years. There couldnt possibly be a chance for us to be more. That would just ruin everything.
I couldnt possibly be thinking about something like that could I?

Baby, I'm so into you
You've got that something, what can I do
Baby, you spin me around, oh
The earth is moving, but I can't feel the ground

Ever since that night that Hollie confided in me about her breakup with Steve, I just couldnt stop thinking about her, in more than just friends. I couldnt just act naturally around her anymore.
We were in the cafeteria together during lunch. I was staring at her, unintentionally, of course.
"Whats wrong?" Hollie asked when she noticed me staring at her. "Is there something on my face?"
I shook my left and right, just trying to clear my thoughts out of my mind.
I chuckled and tried to loosen up. "No, I was just thinking about some stuff."
"Are you okay? Youve been acting weird for a few days," Hollie said.
I nodded. How was I supposed to tell her that I wish that there was more for us than just a friendship? I loved her, of course, as a friend, but I knew that there was more feelings underneath.

Everytime you look at me
My heart is jumping, it's easy to see
Loving you means so much more
More than anything I ever felt before

I could either tell Hollie the truth and maybe risk the chance of her not loving me back the way I love her. If she felt the same way about me though, I would want to know.
I dialed up Hollies phone number and heard it ring. I looked through my window and saw her silhouette behind the shades as she walked to the phone.
"Hello?"
I didnt know what to say and I hung up the phone. It was untypical of me to do something like that. I just hope that she wont call me and ask if I had called her because I wouldnt know what to tell her.
I hadnt felt this way about a girl since Ive never felt this way about a girl before. Everything was happening so fast. I was having feelings for my best friend and I didnt know what to do about it. It seemed like she was the only thing that Id be able to think about.

You drive me crazy
I just can't sleep
I'm so excited, I'm in too deep
Crazy, but it feels alright
Baby, thinking of you keeps me up all night

Hollie came over my house one day after school. We had to work on some stupid physics project together. It took us a while, but we finally got the whole thing finished to our liking after about three hours.
We started to clean up the kitchen, which turned out to be a big mess with paper all over the place. Some of the paint that we used got over the tile floor. It was definitely an adventure trying to clean up the whole place.
I was cleaning the table with a towel when Hollie sprayed water all over me.
"Oh, no, youre getting it now!" I exclaimed and ran over to the sink, where she was.
I turned the hose over to her and got her wet. We struggled for a little while, getting the kitchen wet. There was another mess to be cleaned up, but we didnt care.
We both let go of the hose as we fell to the floor. Me on top of her.
I looked straight into her clear green eyes and I just couldnt resist myself. Both of us had stopped laughing and everything was serious then. I leaned down and kissed her.
"Im sorry," I said when I realized what I had done.
I got up and pulled her up with me. We turned around and started to clean the kitchen again, not saying a word to one another.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Tell me, you're so into me
That I'm the only one you will see
Tell me I'm not in the blue, oh
That I'm not wasting my feelings on you
Loving you means so much more
More than anything I ever felt before
