I couldn't believe it when I was chosen to be in the new season for MTV's "Real World". It was definitely a dream come true to be on the show. Through all the hectic interviews, I finally got chosen. That wasn't the only thing though, I was going to spend the next ten weeks in Barcelona, Spain, a place that I had wanted to go to my whole life. I really didn't know what to expect with my roommates, but I knew that it wasn't going to take long to find out.

A limo arrived in front of my house and I said goodbye to my friends and family back home. I really didn't want to go that far away from them, but this is also something I really wanted to do. The limo driver stored all my luggage and he began to drive me to JFK Airport in New York, where I knew I was going to meet up with one of my roommates on the show. I was so excited. At the same time, I was really nervous because I didn't know about my roommates at all.

My heart started to beat faster as we got closer to the airport. The chauffeur took out the luggage and said good luck to me. He seemed really accustomed to saying that. Anyway, I entered through the sliding doors and headed to the seats near the United Airline counter, waiting for my roommate.

I entered the JFK Airport after getting dropped off by a white limo. I had been chosen for the new season of MTV's "Real World" in Barcelona, Spain. Nothing could replace my excitement to meet my first roommate.

I walked toward the United Airline counter, looking for a girl. I really didn't know what she looked like, but I knew that it was going to be a girl, as the producers had told me in the first place. I looked around and instantly, I knew that I had seen my roommate because she stood up as soon as she saw me.

She had long dark brown hair and brown eyes. I was actually really glad to see that she was pretty short, maybe about 5'2". I was happy about that because I was pretty short for a guy, and everyone made fun of me because of it.

The two of us approached one another and we both took out our right hands to shake one another's.

"Hi, my name is Drew," I greeted her.

She smiled. "I'm Wendy. It's nice to meet you."

"Likewise. Are you from around New York?" I asked.

"Yeah, I live a little north of New York City in Westchester. How about you?"

"I'm actually from Ohio, but I'm working in Brooklyn as an EMT," I told her.

"That's cool. I'm so excited about going to Spain!" Wendy exclaimed.

"Yeah, I know, so am I. I couldn't believe me when they called me to tell me that I was going."

"That was me. I really can't wait to meet all the other roommates."

Just as I was about to reply, an announcer got over the intercom and said, "Flight 489 to Barcelona, Spain at Gate 20 is starting to board. Again, Flight 489 to Barcelona, Spain at Gate 20 is starting to board."

"I guess that's us," I said as the two of us stood up.

We grabbed our luggage - she had four compared to my two - and headed to Gate 20.

The producers of MTV's "Real World" told me that I had been accepted to their show, but I wasn't going to meet any of my roommates until I get to Spain. I struggled with my luggage at the airport, but once I got on the flight, everything was smooth sailing.

I was originally from Seattle, Washington, and to my understanding, I was the only one who was going to the show from the West Coast. They didn't really tell me anything else about the roommates, but being from the West Coast was the reason why I was going to Barcelona first and then meeting my roommates. That would've been easier because there was going to be a flight with one of my roommates landing at almost the same time. However, I was going to stop for a brief hour at Boston, Massachusetts.

On the plane, I rested up a lot, read a few magazines and listened to a few CDs. I knew that landing in Barcelona was going to be an adventure.

Being on MTV's "Real World" was definitely going to fun, that was the fact that I knew right from the start. Coming out of Mississippi, I knew that being on the show was really big for me.

After I said goodbye to my family and friends, I was picked up by a limo provided by MTV. The producers had called me in the beginning of the week telling me that I was going to be flying Mississippi to Florida first, where I will meet one of the six roommates.

I really didn't know what to expect, but I was going to find out soon enough. A flight from Mississippi to Florida really wasn't going to take long. I exited the plane and then walked over to Gate 8, where I was going to meet one of the roommates really soon.

Happy wasn't even the right word to describe the day I was leaving to Barcelona for MTV's "Real World". I used to watch the show all the time, right up until I moved away to college, where I didn't get access to a television set as easily, especially one with cable. Ever since I got the phone call from the producers of "Real World" telling me that I was accepted as one of the cast members of the show, I hadn't been able to keep a smile off of my face. Finally, it was the day to fly there and meet all the roommates. I was way past being happy. Maybe even more than ecstatic.

I was originally from New York, but I moved to a suburb of Charleston, North Carolina half way through high school. It definitely wasn't a good move for me and I didn't really feel like I fitted in with my new school, but I somehow got through it and I was attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill when I first got the call from the show.

I was going to meet one of my roommates when I got to Spain only because there wasn't really anyone living near North Carolina. I couldn't wait, but I knew the flight to Barcelona was going to be a long one.

Everyone in my family threw me a going-away party the night before I was going to leave for Barcelona, Spain for MTV's "Real World". Everyone was really happy for me. Maybe they were just happy that I was leaving. Whatever they thought, I didn't care because I knew that I was going to have an adventure of a lifetime.

I got picked up to the airport in Orlando, Florida, where I was from. I knew that I was going to meet one of my roommates there, but I had no idea who, not that I knew anyone of their names anyway.

I arrived at Gate 13, the lucky gate number. I waited for someone and then a guy around 20 was heading toward me with a handful of luggage. I assumed that he was going to be one of my roommates.

"Hi, I'm Nick," I stood up and extended my hand.

He shook it and replied, "I'm Lance. I take it that you'll be one of my roommates on 'Real World'?"

"Yeah. I'm really glad that I get to meet at least one of you because I've been really anxious about meeting the roommates ever since I got the phone call from the producers and everything."

Lance let out a little laugh. "You and me both."

The two of us boarded the plane in about half an hour, heading toward Barcelona, Spain for the adventure of a lifetime.
