"I want to be there for you, but I just can't. I'm scared out of my mind just thinking what could've happened up there," Claudia said once she pulled away from Kyle's embrace.
"Nothing will happen," Kyle tried to comfort her.
"You don't know that," she cried. "And you know what? I don't want to stop you from doing something you like for me because you barely know me and I barely know you."
"I know you enough to know I'm falling for you," Kyle blurted out in argument.
Claudia had a look of shock on her face.
"Yeah," he said, this time more calmly, "I'm falling for you. I barely know you, you're right, but I've never done something like this for anyone ever since Emerald. Heck, I didn't even do that for her. I've always been fine having one-night stands, but I just can't let you go this time." He took a deep breath and said, "If you want me to get away from wrestling, I'm willing to."
"Don't do it for me, do it for you daughter. She was so scared before and -"
"So were you," Kyle reasoned.
"But I'm not the one you should do it for," Claudia sobbed.
"Please, all I'm asking is a chance. I know that we can do this and I promise that I will never hurt you."
She didn't say a word.
"If I break that promise, I'll leave you alone. That's all I want, I swear."
"Fine."
He hugged her and kissed her on her forehead.
"Why don't we go back and I'll formally introduce you with Emilie?" Kyle suggested.
"Just hold me for a second?" she asked.
Without saying a word, he wrapped his strong arms around her, shielding her from her insecurities.
Claudia let warm tears fall out of her eyes, leaving her tears in spots on his tank top.
He looked at her after they pulled away. Holding one of her hands with his, he used his other hand to wipe away her tears. He lifted her hand and kissed her hand softly.
He didn't want to let go of her hand in fear that she would go away again. If she did that, he wouldn't know what to do with himself. Besides, he really didn't know if he would be able to go through losing another woman he cared and loved so dearly.
Kyle and Claudia walked slowly back to his house and their fingers intertwined with one another's.
"It looks like it's over," Claudia stated.
The ring was getting put down and the crowd was gone. Only a few people remained to catch some sun.
The two stood in front of the doors to Kyle's house.
"Are you sure that she likes me?" Claudia asked insecurely.
"I'm more than sure, trust me," he hugged her again.
"Okay," she said quietly.
The two entered the house.
