"Oh, we’re finally here!" Sara said with a smile as she got out of her car with Meg and Casey.

"This place is beautiful. Sara, thanks for bring me here," Meg hugged her sister.

"This is the best getaway for you, Meg," Casey said.

The three of them checked into the hotel and settled their luggage into their rooms.

"So, do either one of you know where we can go?" Meg asked.

Sara opened her Palm Springs traveler’s guide and answered, "Well, it says here that there is a big shopping mall around here somewhere. It sounds like fun."

"Oh, no. You two are gonna be shopping?" Casey said sarcastically.

The two sisters laughed. "Come on, Casey, it’ll be fun!" Sara grinned.

"Yeah, right!" Casey reluctantly gave in.

"This place is so pretty!" Maria exclaimed as she entered the Palm Springs Galleria.

"This place is surely big," Ben replied with a smile.

Maria grabbed Ben to Fancy Sass, a woman clothing store. "Isn’t this dress so pretty?" she asked, holding up a deep green velvet dress with no sleeves.

Ben stared at the dress, as it had looked somewhat similar to the dress that Meg wore when he had proposed to her, and reminisced back to that moment of his life.

"Ben, is everything okay?" Maria interrupted Ben’s thought.

"Yes, of course. This is a pretty dress, why don’t you try it on?"

"Sure," Maria said and went into the changing room.

"I have got to stop thinking about Meg. But how can I? Today is Valentine’s Day and the only place that I want to be is with Meg. I have got to stop this. Meg wants me to be here to work out my feelings and I will go back to Sunset Beach to tell her how much I love her," Ben thought.

"Well, what do you think?" Maria asked.

Outside of the Fancy Sass, Casey, Meg and Sara passed by. Sara looked in and could have sworn to herself that the man who had his back towards her was Ben. "It can’t be!" Sara though but then stored that feeling in the back of her mind.

The three of them then walked into the shoe store right next door to Fancy Sass and the girls were looking for boots.

After a couple of hours of shopping, Sara and Meg got tired and they decided to go to the food court to eat some snack and take a rest.

"I love it here! And for a while there, I wasn’t thinking of Ben," Meg said.

"That’s all we want you to do. We both know that you’ve had better days than the past few months in Sunset Beach, and that’s why we brought you here in the first place. You need to enjoy yourself," Casey said.

"Yeah, a change of setting is always good," Sara continued.

"Would you guys excuse me for a sec? I’m gonna go to the bathroom to freshen up," Meg said, smiling.

As soon as Meg was gone, Ben and Maria walked right past Casey and Sara.

"It can’t be…" Casey said.

"What’s going on?" Sara asked.

All Casey did was point towards Ben and Maria.

"How can they be here? I mean, I know that they were going away, but this is way too coincidental," Sara said.

"I don’t know, but we have to use this as an advantage for Ben and Meg," Casey said.

"What do you mean?" Sara asked, raising her eyebrows.

"Well, I’m going to set them up. There’s gotta be some way to get them together for the night or something."

"Casey, I had to burst your bubbles, but you don’t even know where they are staying."

"Here’s where you’re wrong. Watch and learn…"

Casey walked up to Ben and Maria. "Hey, guys."

"Hey, Casey, what are you doing here?" Ben asked.

"Sara and I came for a getaway. We decided that it’s the best plan for this Valentine’s Day," Casey lied.

"Yeah, it’s a good idea. Isn’t Palm Springs so nice?" Maria asked.

"Yeah. Hey, where are you guys staying? Maybe we can go to dinner or something," Casey suggested.

"We’re staying at Le Jardin," Ben replied. "Dinner sounds good to me."

"Wow, so are we. Well, we’ll meet you at the lobby of the hotel at 6:30. We’ll see you later."

Casey walked back to his table with Sara. "See, we have dinner with them tonight."

"So what? Where does Meg fit into all of this?"

"Well, since we’re all staying the same hotel, I’ll just deliver a not for Ben and one for Meg to tell them to meet in a room and I know that they’ll work things out between themselves there and they’ll get back together for sure," Casey explained.

"Wow, you have this thing all thought out, don’t you?" Sara said.

"Yeah, well, we can also spend some time by ourselves too because I don’t think that this whole dinner thing will take place if Ben just doesn’t show up. Well, I’m going to make a call to the hotel now and we can set something up."

"Okay," Sara answered. "Well, anything is good for me as long as I get to spend more time with Casey," she thought.

"Hey, Sara, where did Casey go?" Meg asked.

"He just went to make a phone call," Sara answered.

"Oh, okay. So, what do you want to eat?"

"Nothing, thanks anyway."

**********

After a day of shopping, everyone decided to go back to the hotel.

Meg got a call to go down to the reception desk.

"This note was left for you," the receptionist said.

Meg opened the note and it said:

Meg,
Please meet me in Room 101 at 6:30. Don’t ask anyone anything, because no one knows anything about it. If you trust this, I’ll see you there soon.

"Do you know who left this?" Meg asked.

"No."

"Hmm, this is weird, this person didn’t even sign the note," Meg thought.

A while later, Ben got called down as well and received another note.

Ben,
Please meet me in Room 101 at 6:30. Don’t ask any questions, please just do it. I’ll see you there soon.

"I guess that I’ll just be a little late to dinner," Ben thought and went back to his room.

**********

"…Okay, it’s six-thirty," Meg thought to herself as she knocked on the door of Room 101. The door opened on it’s own and the room was filled with white roses and white candles.

Ben walked into the room a moment after Meg did. Meg turned around and said, "What are you doing here?"

"I should be asking you the same thing," Ben said with a suspicious look on his face.

"You think that I followed here, do you?" Meg exclaimed.

"All I’m saying is this all too coincidental," Ben said.

"Well, you know what? Forget about it, I’m leaving now."

"No, wait a sec," Ben grabbed her arm. "There’s gotta be a reason why we both ended up here." Ben took out the note, "Did you send this to me?"

Meg took out her note as well, "I got the same thing too. Do you think that someone set us up?"

"You wouldn’t have happened to have came here with Sara and Casey, would you?" Ben thought out loud.

"Yeah, why?"

"They said that they were here alone and just wanted to meet for dinner," Ben explained.

"Oh, well, I’m going to leave now," Meg repeated and started to walk out of the door.

"Can’t we talk?"

"Listen, I promised that I wouldn’t talk to you until this thing is all settled down, so I won’t," Meg said.

"Meg, I’ve been here for a couple of days now and I’ve not been able to stop from thinking about you at all. I love you, and only you. Can’t you just believe me?"

"Ben, I wish that I could, but—"

Before Meg could say another word, Ben kissed her passionately.

They pulled apart and looked into one another’s eyes.

"I love you, Meg."

"I love you too, Ben."

They started to kiss again and slowly, their bodies fall on the king-size bed.
