Jess entered her apartment after a long day at work. She dropped down her keys and her purse after she closed the door. She sat down on the couch and rested a little. Turning on the light, she grabbed the picture frame of her and her boyfriend, Drew. She missed him so much. He went on tour with his group, 98 Degrees, and she hasn’t seen him in a couple of months already.

‘He’ll be back soon,’ Jess hoped as she outlined Drew’s face on the picture.

Saying goodbye to Drew was so hard, Jess remembered. He told her that he loved her and kissed her passionately goodbye. For two months, that’s all Jess lived on with Drew. He called every so often, but the tour had been extremely busy for him. The timing was even worse because she lived in New Jersey and he was touring in the West Coast for the majority of the two months. There was really no telling when he would be back.

Jess sighed and put down the picture frame. She went to the bathroom and took a quick shower and then snuggled up in the bed.

She missed Drew’s body next to hers. They used to talk into the night, just about everything. After he left, she’s mostly worked late so she wouldn’t have to feel as lonely as she really was. No matter how much she missed Drew, she knew that it was his job and she would give him up for anything either. She loved him with her heart and soul and she knew that they had a future together.

Maybe it’s intuition
Some things you just don’t question
Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant
And there it goes, I think I’ve found my best friend

Drew sat on the 98 Degrees tour bus. They were just leaving the venue to another city. He thought about his girlfriend. He really missed her a lot. He missed the warmth of her smile, the smell of her hair, anything and everything about her personality. Slowly, he reminisced about their past, as he had for so many nights while he was on tour.

Drew met Jess about three years ago. Back then, there wasn’t even a group called 98 Degrees. He had worked in New York City, as did Jess. Every morning, Jess would go to a coffee shop on her way to work to have a cup of black coffee and a muffin. Drew would go there for a bowl of cereal usually. He noticed her many times before he actually got the guts to go up to her to say anything.

"Hi, is this seat taken?" Drew had asked her shyly, pointing across from Jess in her booth.

"No," she had replied quietly, her green eyes sparkling.

Drew had sat down and just looked at her with admiration.

"I don’t want you to think I’m weird or anything, but I’ve just seen you here for so long and I just wanted to say hi," Drew had said.

Jess nodded shyly, putting her long blonde hair behind her ear. She finished her muffin and took a sip of her coffee.

"Where do you work?" Jess had gotten the courage to ask him.

"I’m an EMT," Drew had answered. "How about you?"

"I’m studying in NYU right now, but I also work part time at ABC."

"That must be nice."

Jess finished her coffee and looked at her watch. She had to leave for class, but she told Drew that she’d see him the next day.

That was the first time Jess and Drew met one another. Drew had gotten the courage to ask her out about a month after they got to know one another. Since then, they were inseparable. At least until he had to go on his tour.

Drew took out his wallet and looked at the picture of him and Jess together. It was taken the previous summer in Central Park. Drew looked at the picture one more time and then went to sleep.

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

Unlike her usual schedule, Jess decided to take a day off. She didn’t exactly know why, but she just had the feeling that she should stay home. Sleeping in for once, Jess finally woke up just before noon.

She made herself a simple lunch and decided that she really needed to do some grocery shopping. She usually didn’t eat at home, so it didn’t matter much, but she realized that she needed to tidy the house a little and fill the refrigerator a little.

Returning home, Jess took out her keys to the apartment and opened the door. Totally shocked, she saw a road of red rose pedals. She dropped her keys on the counter by the door and put down the bags of grocery by the kitchen.

Step by step, she followed the rose pedals, which led to the bedroom. The door was slightly closed, and she gently pushed the door open. She smiled contently when she looked at the bed in the middle of the room.

There’s just no reason
Only the sense of completion
And in your eyes, I see the missing pieces
I’m searching for, I think I’ve found my way home

Drew smiled when he saw his girlfriend enter the bedroom. He actually hadn’t expected her to get home so early, so his surprise was half way ruined. That didn’t matter though, Drew was happy to see his girlfriend.

"Drew?" Jess asked quietly as tears formed in her eyes.

"Yeah, it’s me," Drew smiled as he got off the bed and walked over to Jess.

"Why didn’t you tell me you were coming home?"

A tear fell from her eye. Drew softly wiped it away with his thumb across her cheek.

"I just wanted it to be a surprised. I’ve missed you so much, sweetheart."

"I’ve missed you too."

He leaned forward slowly and gave her a tender, yet a passionate kiss.

"I love you so much, Jess. Just out of curiosity, why are you home so early?" Drew asked.

"This might sound a little ridiculous," Jess laughed, "but I’m not sure. I just had a strange feeling that I should stay home, so I did."

"I’m glad that you did…I just wasn’t expecting you so early. I was going to do a little more stuff for you."

"Drew, you don’t have to. Being with you is enough and I love you with all my heart and soul."

Drew reached for her hand and held it to his heart. "I love you with all my heart and soul too."

A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I have found you
